UX – design - webdevelopment
Web-shop design for Japanese furniture giant.
Japanese furniture giant Onisi wants to make inroads into the European market. Their site had been designed in accordance with Japanese norms and was less effective in the European market due to cultural differences. We were asked to design and develop an attractive and user-friendly web-shop for the European market. It had to maintain a transparent and logical layout, while showcasing over 5000 products.
We started the process with a competitive analysis. We then compiled the flow chart and wire frames. This was a particularly important feature of this project, considering the many products and various product groups. In this regard, we worked with the client to define a new layout, so site visitors could navigate through the whole range with as few clicks as possible.
Once the framework had been created, we got started on the design. The challenge involved creating a bridge between styles that were implemented in Japan and Europe.
A complete web-shop, with a brand new style, was realised within the deadline. The result pleased the head office in Japan, as well as the European division, and the site is now fully operational.
Thanks to the smooth communication and strong design of the webshop, Jaaf has helped us reach our European customer group, on time and within budget.
